Fashion is all about expressing your personality and embracing the styles that make you feel confident and unique. Today, I'm excited to share my outfit of the day, which combines elements from City Chic, a touch of DIY creativity, and my trusty Marc Jacobs handbag. Join me on a style journey that's all about celebrating individuality and staying true to yourself.
The Blue Skinny Jeans and Studded Boots:
From City Chic, I'm rocking a pair of trendy blue skinny jeans and funky studded boots. These jeans are not just comfortable but also incredibly flattering, hugging my curves in all the right places. Paired with the edgy studded boots, this combination adds a touch of urban chic to my outfit. It's the perfect balance between style and comfort for a day filled with adventures.
The DIY Blue T-Shirt with Floral Ruffle Sleeves:
What sets this outfit apart is the blue t-shirt with floral ruffle sleeves, which I lovingly crafted using scraps of fabric and the Bondi 22 tee by Sinclair Patterns.
DIY fashion is not only sustainable but also allows you to create pieces that are uniquely yours. The floral ruffle sleeves add a playful and feminine touch to the ensemble, showcasing my love for creativity and personal expression. Crafting your own clothing is a wonderful way to infuse your personality into your style.
The Marc Jacobs Handbag:
No outfit is complete without the perfect accessory, and for me, that's my beloved black leather Marc Jacobs handbag. This timeless piece not only adds a touch of sophistication but also provides the practicality of carrying all my essentials. It's a testament to the idea that investing in quality accessories can elevate any outfit and stand the test of time.
Accessorizing:
To tie the whole look together, I've opted for some simple accessories. A delicate necklace adds a touch of elegance without overwhelming the outfit. Keeping the accessories understated allows the DIY floral ruffle sleeves and studded boots to take center stage.
Remember, fashion is all about celebrating your individuality, so don't be afraid to mix and match, experiment with DIY, and make every outfit uniquely yours.

Feeling cute a sporty in a slight A-Line skirt.
Doesn't the scrunchie just finish off the look 😆😆
I surprised myself by loving this outfit.
Because i sewed it myself I could cater it more to fit my shape.
First, the skirt:
I opted for this simple front but cute scalloped hem so that it would draw the eye down, away from my tummy. The pattern actually calls for buttons down the front, but I just know that will extenuate my tummy.
I've also got elastic across the back because my back has a slight inward curve and often ends up smaller, in terms of pattern pieces, than my front (stomach). In future sews I'm going to keep this in mind and consider using a size down for the back.
The slight flare (A-Line) to the skirt provides me a nice silhouette to fake the hourglass which also detracts from my apple belly.
Cute shoes also help keep the eye away from the apple 🍎
Up top, I opted for a simple dolman sleeve. Again, this is one I
sewed myself. Although not obvious, the seam/stitching on the dolman creates some gatherings and also something different to a standard tshirt, drawing the eye up.
The wider neckline shows a bit of skin (but keeps it comfortable for me).
I topped it off with a statement necklace to break up the bust a bit.

Overall, it's definitely a bit different to what I'd usually go for, but I
must say, I do love it ❤️

Hello!
For those of you who don't know me I'm an avid sewer!
I've been trying to really think about my wardrobe and setting myself a challenge to think "if I met someone I know wearing this, would I be happy?" - this is more specifically for the weekend as I'm always wearing my half finished sewing creations and casual activewear haha.
I'm also somewhat an apple body shape. Although my hip to bust ratio is more balanced than a 'typical' apple, I have a very large stomach/waist compared to my hip measurement.
I recently read that "apple" body shapes suit clothing that draws the eye elsewhere - think detailed sleeves, lower necklines and a fake waist detail... So if course I had to pull out my favorite t-shirt pattern to give this a go!
This is the Bondi 22 tee by Sinclair Patterns; with an angel sleeve (add on) and self hacked peplum.
For the peplum hack I literally just cut the front and back at my smallest part (just above natural waistline). Then I cut a 'bottom piece' about 1.5x the actual pattern piece size. I used pins to evenly space the peplum and a fork to create pleats.
I'm so happy with how this looks! To be fair I still need to hem it up- I snapped some photos now so I could decide how long to actually hem it up by.
Thanks so much for reading!
Enjoy sewing.
Hannah

Today I'm so excited to share with you Lindsay's art work. Not only does she have a rad instagram account you should check out, she also has a youtube channel! (Go give her a like and follow)
Recently Lindsay celebrated her birthday, and in true Instagram Friend form a few of us got together and pained our nails in her honour to celebrate! Here's my sheep-y design inspired by her tutorial below...
How long have you been nail painting? And how did you first get
into it?
About 25 years or so. My first memory of painting my nails was
when I was around 11 or 12. I saw an advertisement for nail polish and it
showed a French mani using a pretty light blue with a darker blue tip with a
shimmery glitter top coat. I wanted my nails like that so much that I convinced
my mom to buy me the polishes so I could try to do it.
Do you prefer swatching or nail art?
I like them both but I think I prefer swatching. I love
experimenting with nail art but my go to is usually a skittles mani. If you
asked me in a year I'd probably say nail art though.
This is a hard decision, because I notice that I will be
favoring certain polishes or colors depending on the time of year. Essie's Who
is the Boss is a pretty pale blue/green that I realized was my go to as I had
used most of the bottle and have since gotten similar shades by other brands (I
don't think it is available by Essie anymore). It's light, fresh, and clean
which is why I like it so much. When I'm feeling a bit more bold, I always go
to Orly Breathable Detox My Socks Off, which is a turquoise creme. My other fav
that I will be sad when I run out of is OPI's Envy the Adventure.
It's one of their Infinite Shine 2 colors and I think was part of a 2018
collection no longer available.
Favourite nail polish brand?
OPI and Essie were my favorites for well over 15 years. While I
still love them, I've found that Orly and Olive & June have been my
favorites for awhile now.
My most difficult successful manicure was a deep water
theme. All of the artwork was free hand and since I have a bit of a tremor in
my hands, it was more challenging. I will say that I also find water marble
manicures to be difficult because they are always a mess and look horrible when
I do them. I also am still struggling with reverse nail stamping.
For a plant themed challenge, I decided to paint something that
they often do in those paint and sip classes - a tree with rainbow colored
leaves. It turned out better than I thought it would!
My other favorite manicure, which is one I repeat at least once a year, is my newspaper mani. I transfer ink from a newspaper to my nails. I have a tutorial on my YouTube channel.
If you could paint one person's nails in the world who would you
pick?
Tori Amos. She has been my favorite musician since I was young,
and I have seen her in concert 5+ times. I would love to chat with her while
doing something fun on her nails.
